The Lived Experience of Mindfulness in Adventure-Based Learning

Adventure-based learning (ABL) is an innovative K-12 instructional model that continues to be used in physical education promote intrapersonal and interpersonal relationship skills. ABL incorporates low initiatives/cooperative activities coupled with periods of reflection help enhance the likelihood transferring skills other areas student life. Mindfulness a way consciously nonjudgmentally being aware present moment. practices (MPs) hold tremendous potential as pedagogical tool helping educators generate greater attention, equanimity, compassion for themselves their students. To further explore impact MPs students, this study focused on undergraduate perception regard comprehension, practice, demonstration possible benefits three separate 16-week teacher courses. Specifically, we wanted how students course conceptualized mindfulness phenomenon played part lived experience. Three themes were discovered: conceptualizing mindfulness, interest perceived outcomes from practices.
